09.30h - Visit of Pest side (4h)
We are going to discover the most important monuments of Pest side of Budapest. As a first step, we will visit the Heroes Square and the castle of Vajdahunyad. During the city tour we will stop in one of the most important thermal baths of the city, called Széchenyi, where you will have the opportunity to try the world famous thermal water and admire the beauty of the building. After we continue until the Avenue Andrássy, admiring the spectacular facades of the State Opera House, and the St. Stephen Cathedral. The tour continues until the Science Academy and Parliament of Hungary, the most emblematic building of the capital . In the hall of cupola we keep the Holy Crown, and Jewels of Hungary. We will discover the Imre Nagy’s statue and the Liberty Square, both places known as commemorate places of the revolution of 1956. During the tour we pass by some of the Jewish sights of Budapest, as a largest Synagogue of Europe, built between 1855-59 in oriental style, built in place of the born house of Teodor Hertz. The Synagogue was made for 6000 personas and this is the religious and cultural centre of the Hungarian Jewish community. Finally we will finish the tour in the Market Hall of Budapest.
Organ concert in the Basilica (included)
The St. Stephen’s Basilica is one of the most beautiful neo-classical buildings of Budapest. This is the most important church in Hungary, one of the most significant tourist attractions and the third highest building in our country.
The construction started in 1851, according to the plans of Miklós Ybl, and was completed by József Kauser in 1905. In the next 50 years the church suffered from wars, storms and earthquakes. The church was reconstructed 1983-2003.
The program of the concert was adapted by Miklos Teleki who belongs to some of the best organ artists in Hungary. The arias of the program are performed by Kolos Kováts, one of the most famous concert an oratorio singer in Hungary. Among numerous prices, in 1992 he received also the highest prize Hungarian artist can acquire: the Kossuth Prize. The flute is played by Eleonóra Krusic who is already known for her performances with different orchestras from Barcelona to Zürich, Graz and Vienna.
09.30h - Visit of Buda side (4h)
We cross the river Danube by the Margaret Bridge, having a nice view to the island and we are going to visit the Main Street, the oldest one of Buda side. We are going upstairs to the Castle Hill, according to your request we can do it with the funicular, and than we can realize an inside visit the Fishermen Bastion and Church Mathias. We are going to discover the famous Mathias Fountain. After the visit of the Castle Hill, we will continue until the famous visiting point, called Citadel, best place to have pictures of the city. On the way back we return to Pest side crossing the Liberty bridge, discovering the main facades of the most important universities, the National theatre, and the new-born modern part of the Pest side.
Hungarian folklore dinner in a typical restaurant, situated between the mountains of the Buda Hills. We will take part in a folklore show with several professional dancers and life music, while you are enjoying an extremely delicious and abundant 4 plate menu, discovering the variety and taste of the Hungarian culinary. The night you will start with the tasting of traditional Hungarian drink ´pálinka´ of the house, and after you will taste the famous ´goulash-soup´ as well. Transportation costs, and dinner included in the price of the program.
